I wouldnt say that was a wise thing to do. They call it redline for a reason bro. And neutral drops, at any speed will **** up a tranny in a heart beat, trust me. I would only rev up to 2500-3000 rpms, its not being easy on it but its not being as rough as you have been on her. She is a thing of beauty, take care of her and dont rev past 3k.

Revving your engine isnt good on your car but its not gonna kill it unless you do it way to much. You can revv up past 3000 and it wont hurt it just dont revv it past redline. When you are racing do you shift at 3000 because you are afraid its gonna hurt the engine. I would hope not its the same way with revving, u can revv it up to as high as u would take it when actually driving it.

There should be a rev limiter and/or fuel cutout. The ECU shouldn't let the motor rev past it's intended redline/fuel cut out therefore you won't hurt it. But I've seen many a people misshift in RSXs (one guy meant to go into 5th and put it in 2nd, the result was revving the motor to about 15 grand putting 2 rods through the block) and other cars which will either break a camshaft or a connecting rod.

I thought the automatic stangs had like a 4k rpm rev limiter when its in park/neutral.

It won't hurt nothing by revving it in neutral man.

I don't know why anyone is making a big deal about it here. The motor is spinning freely, no load is on the engine. You could rev it night and day and it will last just as long as a never revved engine.

So if your in like 3rd gear or something just cruising then you hold down your clutch and revv it, it will do more damage to your car?

not advisable, can promote valve float.... but your motor will survive, for now.
