Default Lexan Windshield

I've got a big crack in my windshield (thanks gravel truck). I was wondering if anyone made a stock replacement windshield out of lexan. Lexan is lighter and stronger than regular glass. I did a quick search and found nothing and was hoping maybe you guys can help. I dont want something that I have to bolt in like on a funny car, but if they made one that went in like factory glass that would be awesome. Thanks.

bad idea in my opinion... im gonna order a lexan replacement for the glass in my hatchback some day, but i would never do something like that for a windshield... eventually lexan will scratch and you will have visibility problems... plus, it's not DOT approved... i dont think a cop would even pay attention to a hatch, but if he saw plastic for a windshield im gonna bet he would have issues with it... just my opinion...

+1.Lexan will scratch the first time you use the wipers, especially if there is any dirt or dust on the windshield.

Lexan is very strong, but definitely illegal as it is not DOT approved.

And even though its strong, it can still break into jagged pieces. Just imagine turning a car upside down, and getting a piece of lexan through you.

I was unaware that it was so easily scratched. Sounds like a bad idea now. I just wanted to shave a few pounds.
