Default Speedlimiter.

In the M3 thread we were talking about a speed limiter for a short time, but we never really got into it.

I was wanting to know more about it. I hear some had them, some didnt.

I have a 02 gt 5spd, and I hit 125 just playing, I havent tried to go past it.

Does anyone know what speed it stops at? Or is their any other surefire way to identify if the car has a limiter?

Well I don't believe the 02GT 5 speeds have speed limiters, because after I did my gear swap (before I corrected the speedo), I went out on the interstate and snapped a photo of the speedo wrapped all the way around well past 150

What's that have to do with your speed tho?
Without that gear, that speedo climbs Very Fast.

Not talkin about rear end gears.
Well I am, but not the gear I mentioned above.
My car requires a Speedometer Recalibration Gear.
I know the newer cars are all electronic and crap, but neglected to say.

So i'll resay what I meant.

With a set of 4.10 rear end gears, without recalibrating the speedo.

It will climb very fast.

GT's aren't limited..They just run out of steam on top end...Most would probably run about 138-140 on top end...

The 5 speeds are closer to 150 on the top end

I maxed out barely over 140 in my stock 03 GT, it wasn't at redline in 5th but it wasn't climbing...did I run out of power or hit a limiter?

You won't hit redline in 5th without some serious (like 1000) hp with the stock gearing. You likely just ran out of steam. Pick a cool dry day to do your top speed run for the best results. Different parts of the country will yield different top speeds.

A while back when I raced the G35 I started up a hill and climed up to 145 mph (on the hill) and topped out there. If I were on flat level ground I would have knocked out 150 or 155 probably. If I were going down a long down hill... there is no telling what I would have done. LOL
