For my car......should I go synthetic?

I change mine every 3000-3500 miles so I buy the cheapest name brand out there. A lot will tell you the most expensive or this or that but I got 251000 on my last '92 GT I sold about 6 mos ago. Never smoked and just as strong as when it was new. I bought an '03 GT new, I do the same. The GT has 48000 miles currently and the oil is clean after 2000 miles.

I run Mobil 1 syn with motorcraft filter.. Alot of people like the royal purple stuff too.

74k miles? I'd say no. It may be too late to switch and it could cause problems with your seals. I'd stick to regular fossil oil or maybe even a blend. Just change it regularly and you'll be fine.

Mobil 1 5000 or 7500 should suit you fine.

I would switch to synthetic. I've put synthetic oil in engines with more miles than that with no problems.

Running mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30 in my 2000GT which has 68K miles on it.

I use redline 10w 30 this is by far the longest lasting oil I have ever used after 4000 miles this stuff still looks like it has only been in there for a couple of days. Used with redlines water wetter an I guarentee you will see a drop in temp on your car too. But @ 7.75 a quart it isn't cheap.
