Default Patriot Performance heads?

I'd like to know peoples opinions and/or experiences with the Patriot Performance heads...I was thinking about getting the Stage II's from american muscle... what type of cams would go best with those heads?

and how much of a headache is it to put them in yourself as opposed to a speed shop? I want to do as much work as I can by myself, but I also dont want my car to blow up...

Comp Cams 102700 are a nice match for them, but you need 4:10 gears and a stall converter if auto. Also need a set of beehive springs to match. You could install them yourself if you have the spring tool or could even buy one. As for the cams they are pretty straight forward. They just bolt in by the covers and have the notch in them to line up in your timing chain links for proper timing. It;s more work than you would expect, but I don't see why someone who knows mild mechanics skills and can use a torqu wrench wouldn't beabl to do everything right! It's doing the internals that takes the know how and no error for mistake! I'm gonna guess if you know what you are doing expect about 2 full days of work, if not more like a week!

That sounds pretty accurate. If you've never been inside this motor it's gonna be a challenge! If you know your way around the average motor and really want to do it yourself I would suggest pulling the motor. This makes working around the heads MUCH easier and is well worth the time especially if you want to add headers or change your clutch at the same time since it's all right there. Still takes about two long days to complete. That's just my opinion and what I would do personally.

well i have the tools, and i've worked on engines with my dad on two ford broncos and a dodge dakota...but never anything this in depth with a motor like mine... I'd love to do all the work myself, i just want to know if i'm getting in over my head...

thanks for the encouraging input tho.

but....anyone have any opinions specifically on the patriot heads? ive heard and read mixed opinions, and i'm wondering if anyone has FIRST HAND knowledge instead of something they heard from someone somewhere haha...

They suck. Do a search on corral.net. You'll see what I mean.
