When I do a pi swap what cams should i put in, pi cams or some aftermarket ones? Let me know what you guys would do, thanks

VT stage 1 NA cams will add another 25rwhp over the PI cams...so with the PI heads/PI Intake and VT cams your looking at 60-70rwhp bump over the NPI parts. You will need a dyno tune after.

so wht the need for a dyno tune, what about a hand held tuner because i don't have a place to get it dyno tuned anywhere near by

what happends if you dont get a tune right a way....will it run liek totaly ****? or u just wont get all of the power right away untill the tune?

yea there isnt newhere near here i can get a dyno tune so what should i do, and are those cams the same for pi than they are non pi or what

I have a 96 and did the same conversion. I got the Comp XE-262AH and worked fine till I swapped them for the XE-270AH till I bent my valves. So, the first I know will work. As for the tune, you will pick up 30hp on a dyno tune cause it runs way lean after this mod. A hand held tuner won't give you the correct air/fuel ratio without some custom dyno tuning.

The thing you have to watch for is your vavle to piston clearance. The pistons in the 96 are flat with no valve reliefs so when you put a bigger cam in you can run into big trouble. NEVER assume the cam will just work because it didn't wreck someone else's valves, they could have been runing on the very min. of the tolerance and just got lucky. ALWAYS CHECK IT FIRST.

they did a epesode on spike tv i think it was horsepower tv. this past weekend, they took a 99-04 gt put stage 1 cams in it didnt tune it and just threw it on the dyno and only got 11rwhp out of it. when i saw that i then desided to when i do my cams im going with stage 2 cams and a full p and p to the max with a well tune. so hopefully that will be in a year.
