Default Hypertech problem (code 62)

I have a friend with a 2004 GT and he bought a hypertech module for it. He has tried everything to get it to work, but he always gets error code 62. We called Hypertech, and they told us that the problem is that the car is not responding to the hypertech module fast enough. I am not sure how to address that issue. Yes, everything is off, doors closed, nothing in cig lighter, stock stereo, etc. He is a newbie and already getting aggravated, so any help would be appreciated.

I have a 2004 cobra and am as a last resort going to see if it will talk to my car, but I REALLY don't want to do that.

Thanks in advance!
