Default Can I install control arms?

I was wondering if it is very hard to put some lower control arms in or if i should just take it to the shop.. Or would drag racing springs do the same thing as conrol arms? (do you have to replace your shocks/struts with dragsprings?)

Thanks.

I wouldn't try it unless you have a hoist and something like a transmission lowering jack. I installed my lowering springs (not drag springs) and the rear was easy but the front springs were a b*tch.

If you have some mechanical ability you should be able to do this yourself.

Anyone have a link on a workup on what exactly the procedure is on this one? I'm going to be doing this as well pretty soon, didn't know if anyone had previous experience with it.

The stickies are your friend. They hold a wealth of information, including, but not limited to, Emann's suspension write-up.

Heck, I'll even give you a link Linkety-link-link

Haha, thanks I was actually running out from work at the time and didn't have time to look up the stickies. I figured I'd just ask now and get some responses and look when I got back.

Edit: Actually, I think the original poster wanted rear control arms but I need to put in some front control arms so the sticky actually doesn't help [8D]

I installed new struts, shocks, front end-links, upper CAs and lower CAs in about 5 hours. I had never done CAs before, but I had a lift and any tool I needed, so that made things easier.

I changed out one arm at a time and used a tranny jack to move/shift the rear end to re-align things when necessary. I took my time, so it can be done much quicker than I did. Oh, the stock exhaust is in the way of the forward lower CA bolts. You can work around it, but it takes some patience and/or cursing.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

i just took mine halfway off, when installing springs.... my main concern was powersteering in the way to get the bolt out on the driver side.

I had jack stand and hand tools ===== NOT FUN

TO get completley off i would say its fairly easy if you have patience.......maybe invest 20 dollars in the haynes manual i alway buy one for any car i buy.
