I have a buddy with 01 cobra that was traveling down the freeway and his theft light blinked a couple of times went off and then his car died. What could be the problem?
Uh, if the theft light started blinking, it's nothing fuel related. What's it do now when he puts his key in? Does the theft light blink a lot (key in on position) or just stay on and it'll crank but not start? If so, the sensor in the steering column went bad, or the key's chip went bad or basically something PATS related happened... have a dealership attempt to reprogram his keys, if that works then all is fixed for $80... If it turns out to be nothing PATS related then your ECU is probably shot. The attempt to re-do the keys will say a lot about what is wrong, if the new key code doesn't save, the ECU/instrument cluster is bad, if it takes, but still doesn't work, the transponder in the key or the sensor in the steering column is bad.
