Better find out if you can even receive your local police bands. Many departments are going to digitally encrypted communications, so even though you can receive the correct freq, all you hear is a squeal.

We acctualy have this walke talke type thing but you cant talk into it we took it to radio shack and they put all the local police chanels on it. Gave me a new idea for when racing and acting stupid to keep it with me and do a scan on it to see if there is anything about me on it.
