Would I be able to beat a 305?
My friend has a 87' I think...... camaro TPI i believe and him and his friends think they can stomp me, well i would be confident if I had a 99+ stang but i have a 97 convertible 5-speed what do you guys think. I'm pullin towards me. The reason one of my friends thinks I would lose is because all he has to do is tap the gas in the rain to spin them, all I did was laugh and said NO **** he has like no tread and my truck can do that too.

If he has no tread, then you should be able to take him, no problem. Also, if he thinks he's packing heat when he spins the tires in the rean, he's probably not that bright---can't drive. I don't know about his car, but I do know that it doesn't matter how much power your car has, if you can't drive it, you'll loose. Race him and after you beat him, let him know that he can't drive.

lol i can drive ive beet lots of faster cars off the line and thinking O YES I WON.....then im halfway through 2nd and they fly by me, boosted gti was one of em man he was quick

I usually play devils advocate on these q's.
BUT, I'd guess you'd smoke him. I think the 88's are lighter + have more hp.
At the risk of getting flamed...Why are you posting this in the 4.6 forum?
Edit: Good race. Tough call. The '97 is weak...but a 20 year old car is weak too.

Depending on his transmission & rear (tranny will determine it's hp, gets a diff cam) it'll be a drivers race if you are stock.
He has unbelievable torque, even for a 305. Run'em past 70-80 and I'm confident you'll win if you can drive.
