I have an 02 GT with a 5-speed. Whenever i first start driving it, the gears grind real bad from 1st to 2nd... and a little when i shift to 3rd. Are my synchros going bad, or do i need to change my shifter? I have a stock shifter.

 

times for new synchros bro, mustangs have the worse trannys I swear...im in the process of replacing mine due to worn synchros

 

There is a TSB on these trannys for that problem, bad synchros, sliders and gears from the Factory. If by some chance your still under warranty, Ford will rebuild it for free, if not then sadly your on your own, good luck.

I had mine at the dealer for a noise (not grinding) going into second.
They checked the car out and said it was nothing but normal on the 3650.

There is a TSB #042613 for 1-2 gear clash / grind on the 3650.

My car has a 5 yr powertrain warranty.

Check if yours does.

 

Has anyone repaired this problem? If so... did it correct the poblem? How much didi it cost? Any help on this would be appreciated.
