Default Weld or clamp cat back?

I just got my SLP LM II catback today, and I'm taking it to a muffler shop tomorrow to get them put on because I was going to have them welded on. Is this a bad idea to get them welded?

well i have the lm2 catback and i just used the clamps... no leaks or anything so far. just tighten it down as hard as you can.

i would use the clamps incase you wanted to adjust the fitting of the catback or if you wanted to swap resonators.

No, it is not a bad idea. It's a good idea to have them welded. Modern day exhaust clamps are well and good, but I still like the insurance of welded exhaust.

getting it welded into the midpipe i assume? the only downside is having to buy a whole new system. but the up side is there should be no leaks. i cut my mufflers off a while ago and put clamps on them and i have a pretty big exhaust leak, i dont really mind it, my o/r pipe pretty much drowns it out. i would have it welded if you dont plan on changin it anytime soon, but then again, u might not like it.

The only thing I would probably change in the future is a mid pipe. Would I have to get a new catback if I got a mid pipe after the catback was welded? And I mean the individual pipes and to the midpipe.

Flanges and clamps can be cut and tubes can be added and welded. It just depends what you want. You wouldn't have to replace entire lengths of tubing or entire parts like cats and mufflers.

Someone in another post said something about not welding incase you have to replace the clutch? Would that be in the way of replacing the clutch?

The great thing about good ol' steel exhaust tubing is that it is easily cut and welded. Now if you had a stainless exhaust system, I'd say stay with the flange because you'll have a hard time finding a good stainless welder at a Midas.

Not to assume here, but I think you'll probably have a clutch re-placed by a shop, so no biggy on the welded exhaust.

I wouldn't weld it it can be a pain in the future and cost more money if you want to change your midpipe or clutch. The flanges seal up just fine and there is really no need to weld it.
