Whew, where do you start. First off, you could search this forum. Half the posts in the 4.6 section are about midpipes and catbacks. It all depends on what you like, and how much cash you got. X pipe sounds and performs different than an H. Different catbacks are of different qualities, sound different. What you want? LOUD LOUD? Quiet?

how about 800??

that could get you a good catted(legal) midpipe and a good catback

borlas are the best, others that are good are magnaflow, flowmaster, slp, ect...

the only diferent between x and h pipes is about 1 hp, so just pick wich one you think sounds better

search the forum or go to mustangexhaust.com to hear clips of mustangs with different setups

I have the SLP LMII's set up on my car with a mac o/r H-pipe. I love the sound. loud as hell when you want it to be but at idle and when you want to keep the volume down its nice.... but as to what some people consider loud or sounding good, its to each his own my friend. almost any catback will get you a much better sound you will love (except personally I feel mac's catbacks are weak, the gf's car has one and its hardly louder than stock) but their black coated h-pipes are awesome

My advice on exhaust is to go to the track and listen to the setups people have. You kinda missed that season though, thats how i determined my catback. If you want loud as hell make lil kids cry, then you want SLP LMI with an O/R H. If you want a good loud and deep sound go with SLP LMII or flowmaster 40 series with an O/R H. it just depends on ur taste like everyone said.

You guys think that LM 1's are louder than 40 flows?

Ive seen videos of them and Ive been considering the switch - Id really like to trade someone - but I want to make sure they are louder and sound good - but I WANT TO BE LOUDER!!!!!!!!!!!

I was considering just straight pipes w/o an H or an X or mufflers - what do you all think about that?

i personally like the flowmasters. i just have flowmasters and stock headers and midpipe and it sounds good enough for my budget. my suggestion is to skip headers and go for the midpipe and catback. from what i hear longtubes aren't really worth the money unless you are wanting to get a lot of power out of your engine (400+ hp)
