WHats Louder of these mufflers?
or should I take off my H or x pipe and straight pipe it w/o any mufflers - and how will this effect my performance?

I have 40 flows now - but im thinking of trading somebody for SPL lm1's

It will hurt your performance not to have a cross over in your exhaust. Also when your driving down the road it will resonate really bad inside the car and will be really annoying. I just don't get why people have to have the loudest exhaust. You should be asking why will be the best sounding exhaust not the loudest

well i have an of road H and flows with long tubes right now _ I think it sounds great - but I also think the lm1's sound very good not as good as flows but maybe are Alot louder - hence my dilema

Well if you want to switch to the lm1's I'd say go for it but just don't do straight pipes. You hurt your performance, it's really not going to sound that great, and just a waste.

To explain the x or h pipe and why you need it. Exhaust gases from each cyl enter the exhaust system at different degrees of the crank rotation. With the crossover it merges the gasses at one point and they leave that point at the same time which smoothes the flow of gasses. With out the crossover the pulses will slow the flow and cause backpressure which is bad and is why you lose power. The Hpipe only merges the gases up to 3000 rpms and the Xpipe merges them up to 5000rpms which is why you get more gains with the x pipe. The prochamber merges the gases no matter what rpms.

So to answer your question stay away from the straight pipe. Flows sound great and LM1s are to loud. I hope you are going for a good sounding exhaust tone and not just a loud annoying noise.

i will sound like **** IMO with the straight pipes and LM1s. get an O/R H or X and Magnaflow, Bassani, Borla, MAC... will sound alot better with that setup, do it the right way.

This is my set-up; MAC longtubes, MAH h pipe, and MAC flowpath mufflers and the sound is awesome, and annoying loud!! I love the sound and the look on peoples faces as i pass them by or idle next to them. Bassani LM1 may be louder, and if it is then i just might go with that. REAL race cars are LOUD!! lol just kidding, just a personal preferance. If you dont like it, move out of the way!

well magnas sound like ****e so that out the window - Ive been wondering about switchn form a H to an X but I know the power gain is like maybe 1 hp or 2 hp - so not worth it - but I think the H is louder (sounds better myself) I suppose my real question is 40's vs lm1's

I know i ran open headers for a few mins when I first put on my longtubes and DAYUM - it sounded like a Stock car - when I get ***** im just gonna run open headers!
