Default keep the flowmasters or go with mac catback.

Right now i have mac x o/r x pipe with flowmaster 40s. They are welded in so I still have the 2.25" pipe. I am looking at a nice mac catback system for 150 bucks. It sounds really good up to 3k rpms but past that at wot, it sounds just as it did with the stock h pipe. I want the sound I get down low up high. Will the mac catback also make me alot louder? What gains should I expect?

The mac catback probably wont be any louder, both of those mufflers are chambered. You may gain a small amount of loudness from the bigger catback piping, but thats about it.

edit: Just fyi, theres like 1000000000000000 exhaust questions asked in the forum each day...so that could be 1 reason you're not getting replies.

I have the same problem with mine. Down low it sound aftermarket, but anythinng past 3k it sounds just like a stock mustang gt. I have the stock hpipe and you have the stock catback pipes. Maybe its the 2.5 piping causing this problem?

What year mustang do you have? HOPEFULLY, its not a 96-98GT!

I personally love Flowmaster. I would also check out the Exhaust section and see what other people like and have and how it sounds. Also if you want a louder sound at WOT, get away from the chambered mufflers, go with Borla Stingers or SLP Loud Mouth, both are basically a straight thru design. I have 1 chambered Flows on my car with an o/r h-pipe, and that thing is badass. 1 chambered sounds so much deeper and louder than say the 40 series or any other series there is.

keep the flowmaster, dont waste your money unless your are going to get a better exhaust than mac. Their exhaust sounds weak! of course my car is loud, but my GF's 94 gt has a mac catback and it is BARELY louder than stock, has a good tone but no volume whatsoever, if your wanting volume don't switch from the flowmaster to mac you will be dissapointed, get some straight through bullet style mufflers like slp,bassani,magnapacks....etc. and u will see the volume you want

Comparing to your car its going to insanly quiet. A o/r hpipe with SLP's verus your GF's 4 cat stock hpipe. Im sorry but stock exhaust mustangs with aftermarket catbacks are going to be pretty quiet no matter what. I guess its all opinion, but MAC exhaust doesn't sound weak at all to me.

but like i said it is barely louder than what the stock exhaust was on the car, not to mention it is MUCH more quiet then when I only had my SLP LMII's and the stock midpipe
