OK gents i just went out with my bro tonight in his GT to G-tech it to test rear wheel HP and you do get more rear wheel HP with a lower gear.Engine HP doesnt change dont get me wrong but rear wheel does as long as ya can hook the tires with the lower gear.I dont know if ya all are familar with a g-tech but they are very accurate.

Please explain how you get more rear wheel horsepower without getting more flywheel horsepower. It doesnt make sense. In fact its impossible as RWHP is FHP- the drag of the trans and rearend.

u loose approximatle 15% of your fwhp by the time it gets to the rear wheels.... just to let ya know...and what lloyd said it's impossible..

well ok,

ill try to explain.ur not making more engine HP. ur just freeing up HP to the rear wheels is all. think of it like this .when ur riding a 12 speed bike and ur taking off in 12 gear or trying to climb a hill in 12.then u put it in first gear. Fellas i just tell what the G-tech says and its very accurate they have ran tests and tests with it.

It's true fellas, contrary to popular belief, gears DO add HP. Actually, they add torque, but HP=TQ*RPM/5252, so in essence, they do add HP. Cougar actually had a very good analogy. Try putting your car in 5th and take off at a light. Hard to do without stalling it, isn't it? Put it in 1st and see what happens. You're putting more torque down. Look at it this way. With 2.73's in your car, you pretty much have to start in first to get a good launch at the track. If you start in 2nd, the car will most likely bog down, right? Ok, with 3.73's, if you start in 1st on street tires, all your gonna do is spin. 1st gear with 3.73's is pretty much useless. however, 2nd will get you a launch as if you were to launch in 1st with 2.73's. Why? Because your putting more torque to the wheels. And as said before, HP is directly related to TQ.

Class is in session all this week . . .j/k

You guys are killing me with this nonsense. I hate to braek it to you but gears do not add horsepower, and its impossible to increase RWHP without increasing FHP. Common sense 101

g tech pro is a pile... so inacurate... this is the same pile that said my bros car ran a 14.8 when we went to the track it ran a 15.3.... yea real good.. pos

ok, we have a performance shop in town with a dyno.I asked him because i wanted to be sure and guess wot>>u can increase RWHP without touching the engine. here is some things u can do to increase rear wheel HP> GEARS, CONVERTER, TRANNY, just to name a few so there ya go. Know tell me that the dyno is wrong to. like i said before ya not gaining engine HP ur just FREEing up RWHP.

example #1 3200 pound car with 308 gear take about375 RWHP to run 12s same car same engine only takes 300 RWHP with 3.73 gear,WHY, besauce ur freeing up RWHP.Same thing with tranny ,it takes more power to turn an AOD trans than say a C-4 there for ur gona gain RWHP with a C-4. It dont take a smart guy to figure out it takes more RWHP to turn a 3.08 gear than it takes to turn say 4.11 gear. but maybe thats why my car runs 11s and 10s on the nos because i dont know what im talkin about RITE LOL LOL LOL
