Default what is causing this noise?

Well this past week my car has decided to make every noise possible. It was running fine and all of a sudden one noise after another decides to show up. The first is this annoying ticking sound. It sounds like it is coming from behind the radio console. It doesn't make this noise when idling, only when the car is in motion while my foot is on the gas. If I take my foot off the gas it goes away. It is not terribly loud, just really annoying. I have been told by one person that this is from the fuel injectors, another said it was an exhaust leak, and another said it could be a bad spark plug. What do you think it is and how could I find out what it is without taking it to the shop? As you can tell I am not the most mechanically inclined person yet (but I am learning) or I would have already figured out what this is.
The second noise sounds like a trombone. It occurs when I start the car. It is pretty loud. If I hit the gas it will go away for a moment, and then come back. Once the car is in motion it doesn't make this sound. It doesn't always make this sound, but when it does it is a bit disturbing because it is so loud. Any thoughts on what this could be? There are a handful of other noises, but they aren't too serious. Thanks for any help.
