Turn Downs?
Do they sound good? Only heard them on trucks. I cant find any clips, when I did a search I only had luck it the classic stang's section. I have an 04' GT with Flowmaster 40's and plan on doing a catted X-pipe also.
Unfortunately I don't have any clips, however I have an 04 gt with Mac Long Tubes, No Cats, X pipe, and Magnaflow's with turn downs, and my best friend has an 03 GT with Mac Long Tubes, No Cats, H pipe, and 40 series flows with turndowns. In my personal opinion, turndowns are the only way to go, he has a Stage 3 Roush and I have a Saleen s281e Kit so both of ours require special exhaust bends which take away from the sound and performancem, so to improvise, we both hung fake tips and just did turn downs and I wouldn't have it any other way. I promise you it will sound louder and better than with pipes...
i have turndowns and i love em! i have a off road x pipe (bbk) and flowmaster 40 series and it sounds bad ***. i get complements on it all the time. i was kinda iffy at first too but im glad i did it. the only bad thing is when it comes to inspection they have to be coming out of the car either on the side or back so that kinda sucks i will eventually go with like a 2.5inch exhaust from the mufflers when that time comes. i cut mine off myself and then went to a local muffler shop and slipped a guy 50 bucks cash and he welded some turndowns on it. i would of done it myself but the bracket for the muffler was like rite where i need to out the pipe since it curves up rite after the muffler for the axel so i had to get it custom done. i would post a sound clip for u but i have no idea how to do that.
they are louder and sound deeper in the cabin...i dumped my stock V6 muffler...cheapest exhaust mod EVER...lol...but yea you DO have to find a shop that will pass you...i did...they don't even do tailpipe sensor on newer cars...they just did the diagnostic test
in texas turn downs arent illegal, and personally, i think they sound awesome, the only downside is the massive amount of noise INSIDE the car afterwards, but of course, if you love the sound, you wont care.
