I've heard 30rwhp for cams, but I cannot remember if that was with or without ported heads. Of course, the most potential will be realized with P&P and a tune.

As far as the install, you really need to know what you're doing. If they are not degreed in properly, then you'll have PTV issues and need a valve job pretty quickly. If you're very good with cars, then maybe you can do the install. This is one install I'll be paying for down the road.

If you get the stage 1's you won't need to degree them in. I had them on my car for a while. In fact, I am selling them on ebay right now: Item #160048946346 if you want to check them out.

Well, it's not really fair because I never had the stock PI cams in. I did a PI swap on a 96 and went straight to the Comp Cams. However, with BBK Shorties (+1 HP!), off roah h-pipe, underdrive pullies, cold air intake, SCT dyno tune, PI head swap on a 96 motor (a bit more compression than the 99+) and those comp cams I pulled 261 RWHP and 302 torque on the dyno. Also I should mention this was on 87 octane gas and tune.

I am also doing Stage 2 cams on a stock block and might keep the stock heads depending on money over the winter.

Does anyone know if I/we will loose any power over any RPM over stock or stage one cams? If so is it low, mid range, or high RPM's? I also realize that I can't spin my RPM's to the needed range to get full potential from stage 2's. The sound is awsome, and if I can get the equal or better performance from stage 2 within the same power band then I'd rather spend my money on 2's...

Actually, you can with the Comp Cams 270s. The range is 1800-5800. However, they are closer to a stage 1.5 or so. They must be degreed properly or you'll have PTC issues.

I was just wondering if those Comp 270s need a spring upgrade. I know a stage 1 doesnt, but since these seem a little between a stage 1 and 2, I wasnt sure. The thing thats keepin me fron doin stage 2s is the fact of doing springs, which is a pain...

Yes, you will need new springs. Also, tuning is pretty much required. Even if you go with stage 1s, I'd recommend new springs, if for no other reason than peace of mind.
