Default Fuel additive - Techron

Just bought an 02 GT. Its got 35K on it. Not sure what the previous owner used for gas. I was thinking of throwing in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. The car runs ok, but maybe it could run better?? I saw Techron is a popular brand. My concern is not wasting the 7.00 for a bottle but if there is a possibility I could cause some harm. Thoughts?

techron is very good! its a great idea to use it like evey 6 months or so i believe. my auto 3 instructor, Russ Furgison says its the best and is great to use so is stp. i bought some right after he recomended it. i havent used it yet but i suspect it will fix my hot start trouble. use mobil or bp-some good quality gas. stay away from sunoco(they put extra ethynal in)gas at a supermarket(samsclub, meijer ect)

Thanks. I typically use Sunoco. I'll switch to Mobil. I heard good things about Techron. Someone told me a lot of quality pump gas contains some Techron. Typically I don't like
additives, particularly oil additives, but I guess it couldn't hurt to try a bottle of gas treatment.

I would get a can of BG 44K fuel system cleaner. That is probly the best you can get and it does work. It`s $20 per can though.

That something you can get at a local Pep Boys? I have heard of that also. Good reviews. But will it mess up your plugs??

Techron is an additive placed in pump gas, so I doubt it will cause any problems. I use Amsoil Performance Improver on older vehicles and have had good luck. If you run through a tank of gas in a relatively short amount of time, you won't have any problems with the fuel system.
