Ford changed how they rated HP of their new engines a few times. The biggest change was when they went from a statistical average to a guaranteed minimum (ie, any 4.6L in a New Edge will produce a minimum of 260hp...with most being higher than that). Tolerances in manufacturing have produced consistant power ratings, so don't expect more than 280hp out of the best.

Now, add in tolerance stacking throughout the car, and you can wind up with a drivetrain that requires 18% of the engine's output instead of the typical 20% (just using the percentages as an example of the powertrain losses).

A factory freak is possible, but the difference won't be enough to turn a GT into a MACH eating monster.

A good driver, however, can put a hurtin' on an average driver, even if the average guy has the superior car.

He IS out driving them or they do not have the engine under the hood that they are advertising.

Factory freaks do *not* exist.

im not saying factory freaks do not exist or exist but what makes you so sure of that have u worked in the factory or put these things together on a assembly line?? what facts do you have to prove they dont exist??

the mach 1 driver obviously couldnt drive.

i also have a small belief that a factory freak could exist. but by the very most, MAYBE 4 or 5 horsepower. i dont see how the EXACT same parts can perform different on two different cars.... its literally the EXACT same thing. maybe all the tolerances where PERFECT on one car down to the 0.001 somehow and on another, they were pushing the limit, thus one performs better. but thats all i could think of.

edit: my spelling.

Have YOU worked in the factory or on the assembly line?

First, get your car dynoed. If you are in fact close to stock, then the mach 1's that you have been racing SUCK at driving.

Your car isn't a God, man. What do you think, Ford decided to port and polish your heads or something? Maybe threw in some aftermarket cams for you? Yea right.

well almost everyone i have raced must suck at driving then.....
I think you would be REALLY surprised at how bad the average driver is. Honestly, the average driver in a stock car is probably faster with an automatic than a stick. All it takes is either bogging it off the line or spinning like crazy for a much faster car to loose a race.

There is no chance that any stock GT will dyno more than about 10 WHP than another on the same dyno on the same day, assuming nothing is wrong with either car.

And BTW, I worked in a automotive factory for 4 years, and there is not enough tolerance on the assembly line for this to happen.

Also, using aftermarket parts it takes most of the boltons and probably a tune to acutally outrun a mach 1 assuming equal drivers. Something off in the tolerances or the tune is not going to make enough difference.

my neighbor has a factory freak 04 cobra, but thats supercharged. We even looked at his boost gauge and it hit 10 psi. His car runs 12.20s basically stock. But about your GT being a factory freak. I vote driver...maybe a factory freak putting out at most 10 hp, but driver can make up 50 hp if they are good enough

10psi stock? Impossible.

It has a 1 or 2psi pulley on it, slightly smaller than stock, doesn't require a tune and will show no evidence of not being stock.
