Default Quite annoying problem

Hi i've had the same problem for a while, my car seems to "sputter" when i give it gas. I "think" it has to do with my ignition but thats just a guess :/. Lets say i'm sitting at a light and im in neutral, my cars revs lower from 1000 to bout 6-700 and idle becomes very rough. Then when light turns green i will accelerate and as i start off my car will litterally feel like its getting 4 revs a minutes and then take off ..... switching to second gear i can accelerate a little bit more but if i go to gun it at ex. 2700 rpms it will extremely sputter feelin like my cars coughing a hairball out the tailpipe. Same goes for any gear, if i want to gun it at the light my car will shake like its about to explode and get a DEEP roar as compared to the usual mustang sound. Also my friend have the same problem on his contour, leaving me to believe that it is a common fix or problem. We both have systems no clue if that has anything to do with it but this problem is getting very annoying.

PS. i have a 2001 gt engine that will fit in my car correct ?

Sounds like possibly a plug misfire. When was the last time you replaced your spark plugs?

I've had sputtering like that it other vehicles too and it's as simple as a basic tune up. Depending on what year you have, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.. depending on miles too. If 99-04 then plugs and yes even the coil on packs go bad as well, but do plugs first.

I'm by no means a mechanic, but that's always a great place to start. Whether it's the plugs or not, good time to replace them.
