Default pi swap

when doing a pi swap, just cams vs. doing cams and heads how much of a difference would you see in the numbers that the car will put down? do the heads really add that much more or are they more for getting the car ready for bigger and better things?

I'm pretty sure almost all the gains in a PI swap are in the heads/intake. The gains I believe are in the different size ports.

to get the maximum out of the PI is to do everything! heads cams and manifold becuase thats what makes the power they are all matched up if you just put in PI cams its gonna be useless

Ah, people please learn before you post. It has been found out that the heads are not the most restrictive part of the swap. The intake/cams are where most of the power will be picked up. Plus another 10 or so from swapping the heads which could be from the result in bumping the compression up.

Would it make more sense then to get an aftermarket cam such as Comp or VT stg 1's and throw that in there with a PI intake and gain even more than just swapping over stock PI parts? Also to avoid the bump in CR. Because if that's the case, and I can then run "New Edge" times of low 14s high 13s with supporting mods, then hell, that's what I'd do until I can save up for a complete motor swap.

The cams and intake are where you get the power but, you need new retainers and another part to make the cams work. It just makes more sense to do the complete pi swap if you are using the pi cams and intake because you can get the heads and cams on ebay for the same price as just new aftermarket cams.

the heads don't need to be changed the only way you get power out of them is the compression raise. i am going to get crower stage 1's and the pi intake
