It all depends, what level of a mechanic are you and what tools and equipment you have or can get. For a decent mechanic its not that difficult, for a novice its best left to go to a shop, good luck.

I'd just take her to a shop. I've had a bad experiance trying to pull motors out before... The only sucessful operation was on a 4cyl Civic and there motors are no bigger then a typical BBQ Grill. And I'm what I would consider myself a Level 2 backyard Mechanic. I can do Oil Changes, Fluid changes, Simple Bolt ons, and a hand tunner lol.

Ive been quoted over a grand to have the motor pulled (taken out and put back in) from two different shops, both charging $60/hr in labor. Unless you get a deal, its gonna be expensive.

Do you have a picker and a mount, preferably a hydraulic lift Its not so bad if you get someone to help you through your first time, id help you if you lived in houston

Where do you live I'll do it for half of that Seriously I had never really lifted the hood of a car before and I've taken the engine and transmission out and back in twice now. You need a cherry picker and an engine stand before you can even start thinking about doing it. You may not have a lot of experience but are you mechanically inclinde or not so much? I would say if you pick up on things pretty fast just go for it, otherwise you might want to take it to a shop(even though it's a huge waste of money IMO) or find me so I can do it for half

Its not really that hard. I did it in a day and it was my first time ever pulling an engine. Like said before you will need a engine hoist (cherry picker). Take off the intake, disconnect the wiring harness and coolant lines, drop the tranny and unbolt the motor mounts. It is easiest if you take the steering pump and A/C off first. Oh don't forget to drop the midpipe.
