If I got an SCT xCal 2, what are REALISTIC gains on an N/A motor. Don't they only really help with a F/I car since there is so much more going on, more air flow etc... With N/A, does it really help at all?

I called up a local shop, Murillo Motorsports and they charge 500 bucks for the first tune with an SCT on an N/A motor, then 250 for a retune, is that rip or no?

Your not gonna see that big of a gain with your mods. I have a good buddy of mine tunes at ASAP with the predator. You'll see minimal gains inless you have Cams, or Forced Induction. 500 bucks worth it? No IMO.

dont get it from that place . I got mine for $400 . plus I got the PRP for $300 . that can be alittle expensive though cuz you need a W/B too if your gonna do your own tuning . well , I use shop's W/B and mine when on the dyno . if you just want to advance the timing you could get a timing adjuster . programmers do alot more than that though . you can turn off check engine light for catless mid pipe , recal speedo for gears , turn off trac control , 2-step for manual trans , raise speed & rev limiters . automatic's can benefit even more .

I have no idea what W/B is or PRP. So basically if I took it into a shop, what do they do? Like what is so much more efficient about a shop looking at it, then me doing it myself? n.b. I am not experienced at all. Isn't it just questions you answer like yes or no.

Fow now just advance the timing all the way (10%) and run 93 octane, that's the only way you'll see any noticable power out of it (advancing the timing is the only thing that will really yield any power over the stock tune anyway... that and leaning out the A/F ratio a LITTLE).

I should probably just buy a timing adjuster then huh? Then I could advance the timing even more.

Maybe, you only can get so much out of the timing though... you'll reach a point where it'll just detonate because it's sparking too early. What's nice about the tuners is that they advance the timing by a percentage, so near idle, 10% is nothing, but WOT at like 4000+ RPM the timing advance becomes much more than it was near idle, yielding more safe power.
