Default gears

I m getting some Ford FRPP 4.10 Gears, i want to install them myself so i dont have to pay a mechanic 300+. is it worth the trouble, how hard do yall think it would be? if anyone has links, on how to install them that would be helpfull

gears are one of those things that only people that do them all the time should do them

even if you know how... they are just special like that - pay some joe 200 and spare your self 1000-2000 or more in damage. you have set the back lash and use a dial indicator - its not hard to do really, but better that somebody else do it (with insurance)

I would pay someone to do it, but im trying to save money, and all the shops have quoted me around 300+, im in highschool, and thats like 3 weeks of work. My uncle was a ford mechanic so im sure he could help me. what is some of the worst things that could happen?

it NEEDS to be installed by someone who knows what they are doing and has done it more then 3 or 4 times.

Put it like this..... You have a friend thats a Doctor and will charge you $2,000 to do open heart surgery on you..... Or you can have a friend that got the 300 page book on how to do it and try it on you for free.....

You decide.....

+1 dont try it. EVERYTHING has to be perfect. and it doesnt get that way the first time......this is the one thing im not going to do my self its worth the 300 to have it done right and have a warranty on it!!!!
