Default is this true?

i was talking to an older guy yesterday who's been into mustangs for longer than i've been alive. we were talking about my mods and he said to get the underdrive pulleys off like yesterday!!! he told me that they will "dry up the engine"......is this true? should i get rid of them? by "dry up the engine" he said the oil won't circulate correctly. i don't see what the oil has to do with that though..... thanks in advance..

Maybe there are issues on the old pushrod motors, but UDPs on the mod motor are fine. Regardless, neither motor's lubrication system is affected by pulleys. Generator and waterpump turn slower, but the crank, which drives the oil pump I believe, turns like normal, but with a smaller balancer.

In short, you're fine.

ive heard something similar...what i heard was the underdrive pulleys stress the oil pump gear and cause pre-mature failure, resulting in a dried up engine...by no means do i stand by it, but i have heard similar stories

I call B.S. too. The oil pump is independent of your pullies, the only things controlled by your pullies are your Alternator, Water Pump and Power Steering pump and A/C, all driven by the crank.

I checked my Haynes. The crank drives the oil pump. Pulleys have absolutely no direct effect on lubrication. Period.
