Default drag radial

so question for you guys which tire would you prefer for a DD and maybe some track use but i do have slicks also....so i got

Mickey Thompson 275/40/17
or
BFG 315/30R/18.....

tell me what you think...i got a kenne bell 2.1 comin soon

i am really set on a drag radial but which is better for daily use and still get great traction....oh and one more thing im kinda dumb when it comes to "car" tires..im use to 44's and big *** mud tires cuz thats what i grew up around. so can someone explain the difference in 315/30 and 315/40

Heres tire sizes in a nut shell. The first number 315, means that the tread area across is 315mm wide. The second number 30 or 40, is a precent of the first number, so for a 315/30, means that the sidewall should be 94.5 mm tall. So for the 40 series tire it would have a 126 mm sidewall.

PS: Go with the mickey thompsons, theyre stickier but the sidewall is a lot flimsier and on some of em you have to run tubes.

Sidewall makes a HUGE differance in drag racing. A taller, softer sidewall will absorb the "shock" at launch and keep the tire planted. Niether of those sizes are ideal for drag racing but between the two I would go with the M/T.

personally i'de go with the 315's as they have a wider surface for traction, and when you go to the track, just put em at about 25psi, just gotta make sure you have the right wheel size, and wheel size can matter. bigger wheels = more wieght, for drag/street i would keep a 17inch, 10.5 inch in the back if you get 315's, and 8 or 9 inch up front with 255's or 275's
