Why is 89 octane cheaper than 87?

Because you don't have to push it so hard to get up to speed

When I drive my Mirage I have to push that thing so hard so trucks and other vehicles won't run me over.

i use 89 all the time thats what the other owner used so i am gona stick with it and it is about 10 cents more than 87 around here IL

Because horsepower is a measure of efficiency, and higher hp is actually a better messurement of fuel economy, and even if u have to fire 2 more injectors than a V6 at higher lbs/hour...your engine has to turn less revolutions to maintain speed or accelerate...so overall you recieve better gas milage

i always use 86 dont see the need for anything better
