I think what we are trying to say here is the driving makes a huge difference and there is a huge difference in track conditions. A guy in Florida was telling me he could hook street tires so well and stall his car, without a high rpm launch, at most tracks we blow the tires off if we are not skilled in "feathering the clutch" or "walking it out". I was not good at it, I get jumpy and stomp it and never got close to 2.0 60 ft with regular tires like guys like Casper are really good. I bought drag radials and got a 1.80 on a good nite just mashing the throttle. Bottom line is if you have never been to the track there is a lot involved. You have to learn alot you may run high 15 or 16 your first trip. I took a friend of my sons tonight for the first time and he improved 1 1/2 seconds in 6 passes. Practice means alot.

Yea practice makes perfect or at least better my first time ever in my car i got a 16.7 or something like that cause i was told to start off in second launching at high rpm. The second time i shattered my centerforce cluthc in 8 pieces between 2nd and third gear. My buddy in a 02 saleen has just got a 13.8 in his car but he has only raced twice. His car has a bunch of stuff done to it and should be in the mid 12's. Also every car is different one may be faster than the other and be the same car. You just have to see how your car and you do together and see for yourself.

my pi swap only cost me about 900$ and im itchn to get to the track, i think ill be goin this tuesday so ill let you know how i do, all though ive never ran on a track b4 so im probably gonna suck, im alil nervous about that. but ya i know these 96-98s are slow but mid 15s realy discourages me, i was readin a mmff and they're sayn w/ an slp full exhaust they pulled 14.5s and are sayn w/ 3.73 and some dr's 13s shuld be very feasable.

I've read on other forums that people have hit as low as 14.5 stock in the 96-98's and with the PI head swap you are running faster than 99+ GT's so with your mods you and some practice you should be hitting mid to high 13's.

Well, just for some experience, my friend has '96GT, intake, exhaust, some gears, and some other goodies. It's an M5 car also. His best 1/8 mile pass was a 9.7 with a 2.1 60'.

dude, dont' be intimidated at the track. its much safer than the street and its legal. Last week i went the the track for my first time and ran a 14.295 @ 96.94 mph on my very first pass. That was w/ a shi**y 60 ft of 2.210. I am running like $50 General Acclaim tires and you can imagine how horrible traction is. I truly beleive that if you want the best bang for the buck on the track, get some sticky drag radials. My buddies el camino ss went from 14.50 to 14 flat just w/the BFG drs. $300 = .5 sec...can't beat it.
Like everyone is saying, the times will most definitely vary. I ran a 15.012 sec pass once (b/c of traction control) and got as low as 13.972 w/ better driving. And i coulda done better if i woulda got more runs in b/c i was spinnin' 1st and 2nd like the amateur i am.
