Anyone have the break-in information in a pdf or word doc?
Thanks.

ok, I heard that there was a weird break-in procedure so I figured I would ask.
You are supposed to drain and refill the diff after the first 500 or so right?

Its about 500 miles to fully break them in. When they are first installed, drive for about 15-20 miles at 55 mph or lower and then let the car sit for 30 min. Repeat about 3-4 times until you get to 100 miles. This is called heat cycling and it is necessary to keep the metal strong. If you romp on them when they are first installed and dont heat cycle, you run the risk of softening the metal and running into gear whine problems. People will tell you not to worry about breaking them in and to just let 'er rip, but don't listen to them. If you really want your gears broken in well, make sure to heat cyle, don't go over 55 mph for the first 100-150 miles or so, take it easy on them for the first 500 miles. When you get to 500 miles, change your gear oil. I'd reccommend Royal Purle. It has the friction modifier already added (its necessary for the clutches in the differential to work properly). Changing your diff fluid is really easy. It took me about an hour and a half with the help of a friend (most of the time I was cleaning the diff cover and the bolts and waiting for the gasket maker to set up). After all that, let those gears rip. What gears are you putting in. I have 4.10's and I was AMAZED at the difference.

Drive it for about 10 min easy, and then romp on it.

There is no mileage break in.

3 heat cycles. Drive the car like a NORMAL person for 20 mins. Stop, let the car cool for 20 mins, repeat twice more and beat the car to death.

There is no mileage break in period. None, nill, notta, zero is the hero break in mileage my bunghole.

Enjoy it.

I would still play it on the safe side... you might pay for it in the end. 500 miles easy driving, then change the fluid. Do a couple heat cycles like others have said. It sucks, but its well worth the peace of mind in the end.
