Default 4.10 gears equivalent hp gain

Hi all,

First I know gears do not add hp. But they will decrease 1/4 and 0-60 times. Has anyone figured out what the needed equivalent hp would be to decrease their time an equal amount?

I haven't run my car yet so I don't have any before after info to use, hopefully one of you has done this.. really just curious about how much they add.

Thanks

It throws off the dyno a bit.. you dont gain or loose anything but you usualy show lower on the exact same dyno with 4.10's than a higher gear.

I think armydad means If you ran, say, an 11.00 with 4.10 gears, assuming all other mods to the cars equal, what kind of HP do you need to be putting down to run an 11.00 with stock the 3.27s Is that what you meant?

honestly it can come down to a drivers race.

In this instance for an 11.0 pass you will have to raise the rev limiter to cross the 1/4 with 4:10's or going across on the limiter for aways before the 1/4, because it will be trapping 120-125 (so hope the engine is forged). This instance assuming stock engines the higher gear might be the advantage expectiolly if you didnt raise the limiter. 3.27's would be pulling up top, where the 4:10's fell off and got to the point of being on the rev limiter.

for other instances. who ever has there car geared correctly the best for there that setup has the advantage and what they are trapping at mph wise has the advantage. wont get into hp, because enough variable of unknown

for a slower setup one guy can have a mid pipe, and the other have 4:10's in there bolton setup, and that being the only difference would be close.
