You should just sell it and you might have enough money for a 99/01 Cobra. Yes I did recommend a Cobra besides the 03/04s[&:]

Hell you would definitely have enough money for a nice 96-98 Cobra.

He did say in his budget... maybe he actually has 20k but is limiting himself to 7k. you never know a persons situation. All i can say is toss me a G so i can finish my rims and tires!

I'd go with a built shortblock. MMR has them for about $3000 I believe.
Mongoose kit with a novi 2000. Crank up the boost! $4000
Installation would only be about $1000 I think

Thats 8k more then his budget, and then again.. tranny/axle/clutch issues, what happens when they blow? Thats another 5k atleast, since he can't do any of his own work. Tranny installed is around 2k for a rebuilt tranny, clutch is around 1k with install, and the axle is around another 1k to be installed and bought. That'd be one of the cheapest setups for those 3 things. I found a 96' Mystic Cobra close to where i am for 6500 with 60k on the clock.. there out there (im looking for a DD). I would again look for a car with less on the clock. Tons of stuff you can find for 7k.

Remember he also said he cant do any of the work himself. That's goin to be to much.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, i should clarify that i meant 7k on the motor only. I have just sunk a lot of money into the rest of the car as i love it so selling would not be an option. In the last 2 years it has gotten:
Spec stage 2 clutch
4.10 gears
cai / x pipes
new tranny
all the steeda suspension parts i could get my hands on
new cobra top / cobra rims / tires

I wont stop till i break the 400 hp mark, let me know what you think...

ok, well you didn't clarify that! lol... built motor... but you may not top 400rwhp on the 7k. Either you spend 5 of it with a new short block and new internals and put the 2k somewhere else... maybe build a nitrous motor, and put a 150shot on it. Or you can buy a blower for 5-6k and wait until you blow something internally.

"Either you spend 5 of it with a new short block and new internals and put the 2k somewhere else..." That is prob the route ill go until i can put together the money. Thanks so much for the help all, and just for sng, what would an 03-04 cobra engine cost me? Would it fit?

Did you get my PM??

The cobra motor will fit but you're looking at 7k plus!! for a good motor. THere is some out there for like 5k but I would not trust them. You want to hear the motor run in person or in a video.
