Should I attempt it?

Should I attempt it?
Ok, So I have a set of 4.10's just sitting in my room waiting to be installed. But I don't have money to take it somewhere, nor will I for a while. Is it possible to install them myself correctly, or is it in a league of its own? Any and all input would be appreciated, thanks everyone!

i don't have the tools, but a buddy of mine does at the shop he's working at and they said we could use them since they will be closed tomorrow through monday. I've never done gears before, but I have rebuilt plenty of engines. I know they are two different things, but with everything I've been readin, its all about just getting the shims right and everything dialed in correctly.

Don't do it, bro. Rear ends should be left to someone who's done it a few times at least. If you know anyone that has done it themselves once and they haven't had any problems then they got really lucky. It's very easy to turn that 8.8 into shrapnel. Wait and get it done right, or sell the gears and get something you can do yourself.

IF you have access to a lift and tools, I don't see why you can't do it.
It doesn't take a genius, especially if you have help. If you've built engines, you are very familiar with tolerances. Your biggest and only issue will be with setting the pinion depth.
As long as you have an impact gun, dial indicator and some patience, you'll be able to install the gears.

I watched my local Ford mechanic put 4.10's in my 01 GT a couple of weeks ago and it took him 4 hours. Not to mention he finally got the back lash right after the third try. I love the 4.10's, but I wouldn't try it myself.

Do you have anyone that's done it willing to supervise? I watched them do gears on my GT.. it didn't seem that tough since he knew what he was doing.. but one mistake, and you'll be reminded everytime you get in your car.
