Default Tranny fluid change

I read some earlier threads on this but its all over the place on how often you should change your tranny fluid. I have 37K on my 2002 GT. I don't know if it was ever changed because I just got it a month ago. The manual makes no mention of fluid change and the Ford maintenence schedule online doesn't mention it at all. I asked a Ford mechanic when to change it and he said not til 75-80K if at all. He claims they don't get dirty and its a waste of money and time.

Also, whats the stock tranny for a 2002 GT. Please tell me its the 3650 because I just ordered a new MGW shifter. How can I tell its a 3650 assuming it hasn't been swapped out?

You have a 3650...and I haven't changed mine yet at 52k. Plan on it, but haven't gotten around to it yet...

When I had my 99' Cobra I changed it at 60,000, which is what the manual said.

Thanks. I checked the door tag and there is a "K" under the TR which indicates a 3650.
