Default Stutter...

I'll try to explain this as best as I can...

When I'm doing between 30-40 and I floor it or depress the pedal 3/4 or so, the car takes of, but seems to almost go in stages, or buck a little throughout the RPM band. Injectors? I put new pugs in 2,500 miles ago... Has been doing it since I can remember. Most noticable from a 30 mph roll...
Thanks.

This has come up quite a bit, I hate to suggest it as it sounds so obvious but I've been right before and don't take it as an insult.

If your driving a 5 speed, what gear are you in when you try accellerating from 30mph and feel this bucking?

Other things to look into will be coil packs & your ignition. Timing could be an issue also.

Mine's an auto.......

I also wonder if a shop could even diagnose it? I might call ford and describe it over the phone... Fuel filter? Pump?

I might replace my coil packs and wires anyway. Can someone reccomend a good aftermarket replacement?

Anything aftermarket is good, even OEM parts are suitable for you.

Fuel filter is a good place to start also.

I'm hoping stuff will break in my car...so I can have an excuse to get aftermarket stuff and not feel guilty for spending moneh...

Definately try fuel injector cleaner, then changing plugs and wires...if that doesn't take care of it, you have a bigger problem [sm=smiley22.gif]

My car does it too. Seems like the torque converter is acting up, like its trying to go to lock up and then back off.

Yep, it's righ at 1250 rpms and it doesn't feel like a fuel problem or a powertain problem, more of a drivetrain thing. Really freaking annoying.

I know this may not be a popular suggestion, but why not take the car to a shop with the equipment that can hook up to the self- diagnostic capabilites of the car's computer system and find out exactly what is wrong rather than spending good money for parts and stuff that may not be bad at all? Having come up in the old school where throwing new parts at it until the problem goes away, I am constantly amazed that with the sophisticated car computers out there today with dozens of sensors providing it with inputs, any of which can be failing, that more people don't use the computer diagnostic services available out there instead of guessing and throwing parts at problems with no real assurances that this will fix the problem. If you can do repairs yourself, just get the shop to tell you what is wroing, then go get the parts and fix it yourself if you like. Just some food for thought!

Well, here's the thing...

It's an annoyance that I can't AFFORD to fix unless something is broken (warranty). I think it's drivetrain and I'm saving up for my last few mods and a dyno tune (plenum,tb,MAF, Headers, and shift kit)
