I use to have a 3.90, and have driven a 4.10 stang with equal mods a ton of times...

4.10's are a step quicker out of first gear - not by much... and even though there's not much of a difference in rpms... the 3.90's do pull harder in mid 4th gear.. we were even the whole race (within a 1/4 car legnth) and i pulled away in 4th gear... and won by around 3/4 car... with 2 gt's with basically the same mods..

i drove my buddies 04 with 4:10's and didnt really notice much of a difference. i mean very little. and we have almost identical cars. not sure about the 4th gear pull though, well have to race on the interstate soon to see.

in the same gear the 4.10 will be quicker than a 3.90... theres no way it couldnt be all else being equal...

Brandasman... the 4.10's vs 3.90 is the same as 4.10 vs 3.73 - what i mean by that is this... 4.10 is faster down low then 3.73... but if you run 100mph+ race.. the 3.73 will win because it has more gear time... the 3.90's have more gear time up top then the 4.10's... might not be my much but there is enough for a win in a race... I drove that car for a year, and drove the 4.10 03' 2-3 times a week for another year, lol - there isnt much of a difference but there is one.

I'm in the process of researching gears for my car. Motive has two different grades of gears. If you do go Motive, make sure to get the performances series. It really doesn't matter in the long run what brand gears you go with if the installation isn't done correctly.

Shh, I'm going 3.73's Don't tell anyone.

Motive gears are made with the same materials that FRPP uses. They're fine as long as installed correctly. Motive use to supply FRPP with gears - may still do.

I'd go 3.73, I don't like my 4.10's, I end up in 5th gear in the 1/4
