noo the 05+ mustangs have the OHC design too, its the pre 1996 mustangs that have the OHV engines. 2005+ mustangs have the 4.6 3v motor, an example of a OHV motor is the 5.0 302 and the 5.7(or 5.8 im not sure) 351

OHV engines stopped production with the end of the 95 mustang and its been OHC ever since 96...The only reason why OHV engines outflow OHC engines is the simplicity in them, considering most of the valve train movement deals with the lifters in the valley of the engine, it is not cluttered up top...they have have HUGE intake ports etc than us OHC guys because there's more room for it up top, while we have to accomidate for cams and stuff...just look at the general size of our heads (expecially the DOHC heads) compared to OHV heads

5.7 is the chevy 350...5.8 is the 351

is it possible for me to swap a 02' mustang gt ohv engine for a mustang dohc engine?
Yes, the block is the same general casting, but the top end is where it changes...if you get the DOHC you'll need a host of odds and ends to put it in

well all GT Mustangs from 1996-2004 are all stock SOHC, which means they have 2valves per cylinder, and 16 valves all together. All Cobras from 1996-2004 are stock DOHC, which means they have 4valves per cylinder, 32 valves all together.
