Man, Im so glad I didnt buy a 94-98 model. I knew they were slow... but man. If a 14.9 is a respectable time for it with mods then I feel as if I own a bolt of lightning! LOL

No pun intended Razor... Just an opinion.

I was happy with the 14.9 for my first time. I just wanted to break into the 14's my first time at the track. If I can drop my 60' times some I might be able to get right around the 14.5 area IDK. Anybody with a 96-98 GT know at what rpm's I should shift for the best times. Also right before I'm about to get to the end of the track I'm almost redlining, should I switch to 4th before I hit the end or should I just let keep it in 3rd? Yes firebird is at 1243 feet above sealevel. Hope I can make it back out to the track again sometime in September.

I agree, I love my 98gt. I'm also going to do the head swap soon. IMO I think the 98 body style looks way better than the new ones. Besides, after the head swap we are as fast as the 99+ GT's. Razor, good job getting into the 14's. THose 2.73's blow, get some 3.73's and you'll be in the mid to low 14's.

hey razor, good job buddy. you had a very good first nite at the track it seems. You should definitely shift to 4th at the end. I have only ran once, which was a few weeks ago, and i couldn't break 14.1s. I thought 3rd was still in the meat of the powerband. I started shifting into 4th right before the end and managed to slip into the 13.9s. My starts were very sloppy w/ 1st and 2nd slippage and 60 fts of 2.2s. My next "mod" is drag radials. You would be mid 14s easily if u got the drs.

Later, Nick

congrats on the 14's in that sled
OK now MD, do the correction for the young man and tell him how much quicker he was at sea level. he says Firebird is at 1,243 feet above sea level. Go ahead, make his day!
