Default Got my MGW shifter today

Got my shifter today. Read through the install guide. They say to tighten the four bolts that hold down the shifter firmly but they don't mention any particular torque setting. I'll probably call them tomorrow but just curious if anyone knows.

as long as you have them relatively tight and some good silcone sealer on it you will be fine just go alittle past snug

use silicone or it will vibrate a lot. I think that the instructions should tell you to use the red stuff.

That silicone is strong once set, you'll understand once you go to take your stock shifter off

Just like sitnlo said, a little past snug.

[:@] Breaking the stock silicone loose sucks! It took me forever.

Haha yea it does. I remember it was like 95 degrees out when I was putting in my MGW... I was drenched in sweat by the time I finally got the stocker off.

And thus, the reason they made gaskets. Go for the gasket, not the silicone

silicone is only a problem when taking off. getting a gasket wont do anything toward taking the stock one off. and if you got an mgw you wont want to take it off. the silicone that comes in the kit is fine. i installed mine yesterday.

i tightened em very snug

I got a gasket for my MGW so I wouldn't have to mess around with silicone at all. It was such a pain to scrape all of the silicone off the trans... with the gasket you're guaranteed you never have to do it again.
