Default axle shafts?

I am having a friend at the local ford dealer and he is going to be doing the gears for me. he also said that I should get new axle shafts at the same time with how many miles I have on my car. I was looking at 28 spline for $250 and I was looking at the 31 spline w/ Traction-Lok Differential for $475. is it going to be worth the $$$ to do the 31 w/ Traction-Lok Differential over the 28 w/ stock differential?

if u plan on big mods later on it wouldnt be a bad idea to get some 31 spline axles to be safe.

with 28 spline slicks will kill your rear end with 31 splines you will be fine with slicks for a long *** time. go with the 31's

Depending on your future plans you may want to look into 28 spline moser or strange axles. They're stronger than the stock 28 spline axles, but don't require you to spend the extra $$$ on a new carrier and diff. If you've got the coin to blow then by all means do the 31 spline upgrade. But if you're not planning on throwing slicks at the car and fi/nitrous with big gears 28 spline aftermarkets would probably be fine. If you're not going to do much to your car at all (I dont know your current mods) stick to the "if it aint broke don't fix it" motto, keep the stockers and spend the money on something else. thats my .02

I am swapping my engine for a 99 engine and doing a rebuild with a supercharger. as for mods I have on there right now. I only have an intake and o/r H pipe for performance. when I do the axle I am also putting in some 4.10 gears.
