When my car was non pi I was getting around 12 miles per gallon. I just did a lot of work to it and now I average 18 or so. My problem started when I put my O/R H on. My car ran extremely rich. It would actually shoot flames out each exhaust pipe when I shift from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd if I was on it hard. I think with all my work my car leaned out. Maybe your car is just running rich. Possible spending 80 dollars on a dyno might give you a better understanding if that is your issue.

I hope you guys aren't really as bad as I think you might be... [&:]

I dunno if anyone mentioned it or not, but if you are actually using 15.4 gallons as the amount of gas you used for a given number of miles, your numbers are gonna come out wrong, unless you drove the car until it stalled. (you could however, use that opportunity to change your fuel filter [8D])

you have to go to a gas pump, fill up the tank all the way up until it clicks off. then drive around until you've used up a decent portion of the gas tank. then go to the exact same pump and fill up. use the number of miles/gallons you just put in to get the mpg.

Is the gas tank really 15.4 gallons? If so than I avg between 11.6-14.2 mpg. I usually fill up after the light comes on and about 10 more miles of driving, then it stops filling up after about 13.5 gallons, the thing stops putting gas in my car and I pump another dollar or so in, but I've never gotten 15.4 gallons in the car, its usually between 13-13.5 when I'm on empty and fill up. So that would ultimately put me between 13-16 mpg, and my only mods are k&n air filter, o/r h-pipe and flowmaster mufflers. Shouldnt I be getting more?

well my car got bad milage (like 11-13mpg interstate) after i got rid of my cats without a tune and then got it tuned and they said woth out cats the car tends to run pig rich and that kills your mileage after the tune i got back around the 20-23mpg range on the interstate

I agree with ya redass02gt ... if 04BlueGT's step #6 was interrupted as "divide by the total capacity of your tank", then they are a dumb *** !!!

Come on people, "how to calculate your MPG" shouldn't even be question - it's simple 1st grade math.

Fill the tank, drive a while, record miles driven, fill tank back up, divide miles driven by # gallons added to fill back up, or ...

starting from near empty, add $20 worth, record # of gallons added, reset odometer, drive until near empty, divide miles driven by # gallons original added.

...it's not that difficult.
