also, what brand gear was it. I have always used ford racing gears. My friend said he put motive gears in and it makes a noise. That could also be from inproper backlash. But i had my 4:10's installed yesterday and it makes kind of a hawling noise but its very faint. Its normal to hear that. But if its extremely loud then somethings wrong.

Summits Brand. Kinda cheap. Its somewhat loud. Ill Try and let it ride a few more miles and if it keeps going ill rip it open and check. Thanks for all the help. If theres any other ideas please let me know.

My Richmonds aren't exactly quiet, and they are spec'd correctly. It could be you just listening closer. Have your friend double check the specs just to be safe.
