Castrol is fine. That's what's in mine. 5W-30 should be fine in the summer but, according to the owner's manual, you are "supposed" to use 5W-20 on a 99+ GT.

I had a volvo that went 260,000 miles on castrol oil and fram filters, didn't burn a drop. With my ranger I ran castrol and I had no problems. When I got my Honda I switched to mobil 1 and when I finally got a real car, aka Eleanor, I started to use Royal purple and k-n oil filters.

I would run 5-20, The tolerances in the 99+ 4.6 is much tighter than a standard motor, to thick an oil and you will not get the coverage you need. Best off to get 5-20, it can be a pain to find and not every manufacturer makes it (or atleast didn't). It is usually a little higher in price too [&:].

i'm looking at the manual right now it says on page 190 (refill capacities) "engine oil - motorcraft SAE 5W-30 super premium oil".

Amsoil or Mobil one are good choices too, along with the Royal Purple.
