Default Is a tuner worth it? Gears?

I live in Upper Michigan, there aren't any places with dynos and I think the closest one is pretty far away. Is a tuner worth it if you can't tune the car on a dyno? Another question, how well do 4.10 gears wake up a car. My car is parked until spring but by then I should have about six to eight hundred dollars to throw at the car and I don't know if I should do a Bassani CB, gears, tuner, leave the flow 40s and just get an o/r H. Please help.

Holy crap!!! Your a yupper. LOL. You mean there is no speed shops in St. Ignace? I mean they have that huge cruise every year, you would think there would be some Hot Rod shops. Are you thinking of coming South to get the work done. Ther is quite a few. There is one in St.Clair, Flint and Dearborn Heights.

I suppose it would only be about a 6-8 hour drive to Flint, give or take an hour. It would probably worth the trip to get it tuned right. I have absolutely no on-hand experience with tuners since this is my first car that I could really buy performance parts for. How much does it cost, on the average, to have a few pulls on a dyno to get a car tuned? Also, if I got a tuner but didn't go to a dyno right away, are there preset programs that will at least get me some HP and TQ?

The tuners do come with the tunes. I do not have one but people on here say they are easy to use. If you get a tune you have to pay for the tuner any way + the price of the Dyno shop to do it for you.

So basically its something I can't do at home by just simply picking, for example, "the first tune setting." If I got one it would be an absolute must to use it on a dyno, or does a dyno simply give a person the the chance to use the programmer to its full ability?

You don't need a Dyno, if you get a tuner you can use it in your driveway. Going to the Dyno is exactly like you said, you are getting the full potential from it and the tune is custom to your car.

The performance gained from a tuner without a dyno, is it worthe the 350-400 dollars? I've just done a search on 4.10 gears and it sounds like it can make the car way more fun to drive. One guy said his car did better after gears than it did with a tune and a CAI. I'm won't have a tone of money over the summer because I'll need new tires also. The car still has the original Goodyear tires that IMO suck something awful. I just want to spend my money efficiently.

Some guys on here say they do not give tha much HP, but on the bright side you can reset you're computer for the new gears and different size tires. DO a search on tuners and you will get all kinds of answers.

Have you ever thought about coming to the Woodward Cruise?
