Default Need Help...problem getting worse

ok....so My computer keeps throwing a Camshaft positioner failure code. I've replaced the f***in sensor 3 times...nothing....my mechanic went in and checked out my car twice and couldnt find anything and this is a guy my family has used for a good 15 years with no problems.

everytime i start the car up it does THIS and I'm really starting to get tired of it. Also just starting today, after I actually get it running, the idle can rumble a LOT and it sounds like a badly cammed engine. This video doesnt show it at all, but before I start driving, sometimes the idle literally bounces up and down from about 750 to 1250 rpms and the whole car shakes. While driving on the highway, the shake and rpm jumping goes away but the engine sounds like its straining...like its doing more work than it should for the speed i'm going....and i've also noticed a loss in miles per gallon in the last few gas tanks...and i havent been beating on it at all....

ill try and get more videos up of a rough idle and the highway speed engine sound sometime tomorrow

i'm gonna try going to another mechanic as soon as I can, but does ANYONE have ANY idea what this could be? because I'm realllllly tired of my car not performing how i know it can

sad to say it, but its time to go to a stealership and get them to check it out.

Just too many things it could be and too hard to diagnose over the internet, or even for a backyard mechanic. The stealership can probably figure it out and tell you wtf to do, but its going to cost $$$

well on the bright side...if a cam is indeed cracked....at least i can replace em with somethin better....even if its sooner than i was planning too....

yeah oddly enough i took it to a different mechanic today, said he would take a further look into it tomorrow but from what he could tell it might have something to do with faulty wiring? and said that if that was the case, a new wiring harness would prob run 500+ for parts and install

i'm actually kinda hoping its a problem with the cam, so any maitenenace (new cams) would actually help performance haha...but...time will tell.....

thanks for the help guys....
i have a slow as ***** subaru to drive in the meantime

How many miles on your engine??

It is conceiveable that you may have jumped a tooth or 2 on the Cam timing.. Since the wiring may be bad, which is a little more believeable, I'd start out simple..
