How many miles until the engine starts to go bad??
I've got a little over 120,000 miles on my GT. I just drove it across the country and I THINK the engine is starting to loose compression. Around how many miles do the 4.6's usually start to go bad? And should I just buy a whole new engine or replace the internals with some forged ones since I plan on strapping a supercharger in the near future. Thank for the help!

Every engine is different. You should be happy your's lasted this long. I would look for a low mileage engine or rebuild yours, especially if you want to go FI.

Its all in how it has been maintained...from day 1. No one can predict when your engine will go bad. Go get a compression test done, or do it yourself if you have the know-how.

Yea.. What should I look for? Ive been looking at Rotating Assembly kits from Sean Hyland Motorsports. Is that all im gonna need or is there other stuff. I plan on just buying the kit and having a speed shop do it for me.

I think these engines last a long time if you're nice to them. Nice to them = you keep the fluids fresh and don't beat the hell out of it too much. How much "too much" is is hard to say, but I generally don't go to redline more than once a week. Usually less, and I've had zero problems with the engine (I'm at 96k miles).

Im almost to 95K and yes, miles are amongst on of my biggest concerns. Although she runs perfect and I maintain her, I would love a stang with really low miles.
