Default U-joint replacement

I think i have screwed up a u joint on my car. When i take off in 1st gear there is a popping noise. It also pops like if i am in 4th gear cruising at about 1400 rpm and let off the gas and then then bump the throttle. I was wondering how hard it is to replace the u joints and where is a good place to buy them?

I might be having to replace mine as well. I get a vibration at certain rpms, so Im taking mine in to have it looked at. A mechanic I know said it wasnt too bad of a job. Also, just go to your local Advance, Autozone, etc.... The ones I saw ranged from $6/ea. to $15/ea. Not too bad.

Buy the joints from an independent parts place that has a machine shop. Buy the ones with the grease fittings and bring your driveshaft to the shop and have them press the new joints in. Add grease when you get home because new joints are real stingy on grease.
I used to put them in myself but for the $10 or $15 they charge to press them in, it's not worth it anymore.

Make certain to mark the yoke and the drive end with big marks so they get it back the same way because that is the way it was balanced.

Have a look at your transmission mount toobefore you blame a u-joint.
