Goddamn inspection
*sigh*
So.
My car sits in a garage for months and months. I put maybe 500 miles a year on it.
Two years ago, it failed inspection because the motor was blown. I bought a sticker from a guy, slapped in on, and got the motor replaced.
So, this is the month the "fake" sticker expires. I have to get it reinspected in December.
So I go, a week ago, to get it inspected, and the battery is dead so I cannot start it. I was on a break from work and didn't have time to recharge the battery (and couldn't find any cables.)
I called now to make an appt. to bring the car in on Dec 26 to get inspected (getting close to the wire!) and the guy tells me that the car will fail OEM2 because of the battery failure. He says I need to fix whatever the problem is (ie the battery) and then drive it a drive cycle to get the computer working again. Then, it can pass.
But FFS, I don't have any time to drive it some 50-100 miles to do that before the end of December.
I hate my ****ing car.

RE: Goddamn inspection
i dont think youll need to drive it that much to reset the computer, mine resets after 15 or less usually. so what happened was your battery died, and reset you computer right? it should be fine after 30 minutes of driving

RE: Goddamn inspection
He's right if your battery died, you lost all data and you will fail inspecition. The cause of failing is because without the data the computer does not know how the car runs so it tends to run lean or rich. They say 1 hour of driving should do.
